Cap conical/spherical & deeply pitted [morels] species

The cap of the fruitbody is some shade of brown and the surface has some resemblance to honeycomb, albeit without the pits being neatly hexagonal. There are sharp ridges between the pits

Not a morel: If the cap is yellow, irregularly pitted and bruises blue when damaged you have Gymnogaster boletoides, which is a truffle-like species and so you'll find it here (Gymnogaster boletoides - New South Wales North Coast) in the Truffles.
