Can't be absolutely certain given the angle and light, but that looks like a yellow wing spot, which would make this subspecies striatus, from Tasmania, here to over-winter.
Harvey, I have cropped the second image and added it as a third to show that part of the wing more clearly. There is a yellow spot there as you suggested. Just after seeing this bird there was a flock of Silvereyes, which are also a subspecies from Tasmania in the same patch of bush. Perhaps these two species travel together in their migration to the mainland.
