Approx 2.5 m tall rounded shrub with loads of berries the size of kangaroo apple fruits; part of extended garden see https://canberra.naturemapr.org/sightings/4566118
Steve I think you hit the nail on the head! Barb the species is neither listed in the ACT Census of vascular plants nor on CNM. Should I collect a sample for the herbarium? This specimen has been planted deliberately in the nature reserve as a screen for a garden and I find the recruits now further east i.e. deeper in the nature reserve. Steve, would you know who is responsible for managing garden extensions in nature reserves? I haven't got an answer to this question for over 15 years; one response from a Parks gap filling ranger was that it is NOT the responsibility of PCS. City Services?
Yes, since it is spreading, we need to get it on the Census list and in the Herbarium. So take a fresh sample to the ANBG visitor centre and also press one. Or give sample to me to take to ANBG
Since this one was apparently planted, and for now we have no evidence of it spreading, I don't think we should get on the Census or take it to the Herbarium.
That seems appropriate, if it is planted it is very unlikely to be of any significance, certainly not to the herbarium anyhow. This species is often planted as an ornamental, if it were highly invasive I suspect we would have already seen it.
