User's notes

This stringy lichen is one of a few which colonized a shadecloth canopy. The canopy itself collapsed a few years ago and a substantial amount of leaf litter has accumulated in the depression formed in the top, with several ferns & other plants colonizing the underside. The lichen(s) are mostly on the more exposed areas, where there is less/no leaf litter. Some of the lichens detailed at sightings 4647881, 4647883, 4647896, (this one), . . . . (I will add more numbers once they’re all uploaded), may be of the same species. This lichen is abundant in this locality, both on living and dead wood, predominantly attached to bark. It has a distinctive string-like structure.

Thanks again, Teresa.

Yes I do feel blessed ~ the shade cloth canopy is a brilliant adventure in its own right!

It's entire microcosm includes several mosses, ferns & lichens, & 1 tree (fig). I've spent well over a week photographing, recording & trying to distinguish between species, none of which I've tried before for any of the 3 main groupings.

There's no facility on Naturemapr that I've found, for posting images of multiple species, for general interest, or for, (what would have been particularly helpful), some indication of which patches are separate species, and which are related to the same species. I've had to upload the odd photo multiple times to focus on separate species. Any photos I've referred to as 'context' photos give a better idea of micrcosm itself.
