User's notes

This chunky dark russet-brown Orb weaver has a few fine white specks, (mostly symmetrical), on the top back perimeter of the abdomen (photos 1 & 2), and a roughly v-shaped pale mark towards the top front of the abdomen (photo 5). Some similarities with spider at sighting 4654481 ~ the white specks, the roughly V-shaped mark, the overall shape and hairiness. The big difference is the lack of yellow dots on the back (abdomen) of the latter This one sheltered for the day on an old feed bag, before returning to reconstruct/repair its web for the next night. Other nearby (& different specfies) orb spiders were already doing so before daylight totally disapeared, but this one didn’t start till after dark, about an hour or more later. It sheltered elsewhere today, and has just returned (19:00-19:30 EDT) to its web for tonight (photo 5).
