User's notes

I was once told this orange flower, which looks like a single petal, was an orchid. It is reasonably common locally from late Spring through Summer, on the fringes of forest and in slightly grassy areas, where ever it is partly shady. I feel I’ve seen a similar shaped flower in another colour, (can someone verify another colour exists?), but it was a long time ago, and this is the only one I’ve been seeing in the past 30+ years or so. This is the same plant as depicted in sighting 4650350, just in a different location, and clearer photos.

I'm sorry that it is taking so long for sightings to be verified - there are only two of us at the moment, and both of us are working and doing Uni. I really appreciate all of your info!
